I want to welcome everybody back to a new school year! Once again, it was a beautiful day with which to begin the year. Thank you PTA for your refreshments, as parents and some staff members certainly took advantage of your generosity. It was also nice to hear Dr. Gamble’s favorite bell ring in the school’s bell tower. The school grounds look great. I want to thank Mike Medea and Julia Bonocore for their efforts in making the outside grounds look awesome. I also wanted to thank George and Linda Fox for their efforts in making the inside and outside of the school look in tiptop shape for our start up. I heard many compliments about the school’s appearance!
We will be continuing where we left off last year with our initiatives. We will focus our efforts on continuing the literacy push, infusing technology and STEM projects into class lessons, and we will begin to upgrade our math program. Teachers will turnkey training with close ties to Rutgers University’s literacy program. We will be offering professional development in the area of technology through onsite visits from consultants, and we have developed a mathematics sub-committee via our Council of Instruction that will look at our math program and the integration of the Common Core State Mathematics Standards.
We will be communicating to you through various means such as the virtual backpack on our website, our mass e-mail system, and/or sending home hard copies of documents. We will have the Parent Portal through Genesis set up shortly. We will let you know when. The primary purpose of the portal will be to communicate how your child is doing academically in his or her classes. We have updated our report cards as well, as teachers will work with their grade books online.
Again, welcome back everybody and I am sure I will see you around!
