Mr. Patton has been involved in education for over 24 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Telecommunications and a Business Minor from Kutztown University. He later pursued further studies in the Education Program at Kutztown University and received his standard teaching certificate. Mr. Patton earned his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University.
Mr. Patton taught sixth grade at Stewartsville Middle School in Greenwich Township, NJ. He subsequently became the assistant principal of the new Greenwich School in Greenwich Township, NJ. During his tenure at the Greenwich School, the school was awarded a New Jersey State Best Practices Award for creating a positive school climate. His most recent position in administration was with the Pohatcong School in Pohatcong Township, NJ where he held the position of principal for 7 years.
Mr. Patton has been involved with and chaired a number of committees throughout his career. He has served in various coordinator roles, including District Testing Coordinator and 504 Coordinator, led technology initiatives, facilitated character education programs, and has played a critical role in many aspects of educational professional development.
He has been involved with many professional memberships, including a past president of the Warren County Principals and Supervisors Association, a past member on the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association, and a current Council member of the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association. He is also a member of the Morris County Association of Elementary and Middle School Administrators (MCAEMSA). He received the award for Who's Who Among America's Teachers and received the Warren County Educator of the Year Award.
Mr. Patton believes that all children can learn but each learns in a different way and at different rates. He believes that with hard work and perseverance we can touch each child in a special way. Keeping the atmosphere positive is the key to success as well as keeping the lines of communication open among staff, students, and parents. Mr. Patton feels that teamwork is the ultimate way a school can be successful in reaching the goal of helping a child attain his or her full potential.
Mr. Patton is a very visible principal and he states that the best part of his job is visiting the students in all areas of the school. He gets to know every student and every student gets to know him. Mr. Patton's motto is "Stay positive, maintain communication, and do the right thing." He is looking forward to continuing his career here at the Califon School!
